Japan Series
PASSAGES THROUGH STILLNESS
This Japanese series contemplates passages through stillness and silence; being in the moment; which is central to the philosophy of Shintoism, the practice of Haiku and the concept of Shinrinyoku (forest bathing.)
The compositions of the works juxtapose the traditional Japan, symbolized by colourful figures of women in kimono (and sometimes deep, lush forest environments) with the contemporary one represented by the people in their daily urban life; two opposite worlds functioning in well-tuned coexistence.
